Definition of the Issue: Animal testing is using different kinds of animals to test different products like cosmetics or medical things or household products. Some people believe that it is okay to do because they are just animals. Others think it is bad because it can be harmful.

A lot of facts out there are about Animal Testing, but most are slanted. Here are a couple of facts about Animal Testing that are not slanted. During medical research the animals would have dieases injected into them or get infected with the diease in some other way. Out of that 10.1 million dogs and 16.7 million cats would be put to death in shelters. Most animals that are used in testing are taken out of shelters, only 1.1% of the original animals that would be euthanized are left to be put to death in shelters, the rest are dying because of animal testing. Mice, rabbit’s, cat's, guinea pigs, dog's, and monkey's, are the most common for Animal Testing. Most of the animals are you to test for shampoo, skin cream, items for cancer preventions, and drugs. 15 million tests are used for medication and the other 50 million are tests for other products. 94% of Animal Testing is done to determine the safety of the cosmetics. 20 million animals are used and killed annually. In 2013 animal tested cosmetics will be banned from Europe. Drugs have been licensed in use for Britain have been tested on animals. 38,000 animals are killed in EU cosmetics test. British Pharmaceutical industry thinks it can be 10 to 12 years to develop a new medicine.
